Yoga is designed to give you strength and flexibility as well as calm your mind – so you don’t just look good, you feel good too. The stretching and holding of postures causes muscles to lengthen, which gives the body a longer, leaner look and the sequences include work for the upper body, lower body and core.

Ali has such in-depth knowledge of the musculature of the body and what each exercise does for various muscle groups, she also gives options for those wanting to work at a higher or lower levels.

I feel that Ali has the right mix of humour and encouragement in classes to make them fun and enjoyable. I have also noticed that she makes new people feel very welcome from the outset and seems to be able to remember everyone’s names, even in a huge class!

I am inspired by Ali’s own fitness and feel constantly motivated to reach a better fitness level for myself. I am 54 now and can honestly say that I am fitter and more toned than I have been in all my adult life. This is due in no small part to the classes I have taken with Ali. I’ve lost three stone in weight too!

Yoga is both enduring and fashionably cool! It has proven long-term appeal in Western societies and is forecast by the American College of Sports Medicine to become even more popular in 2015. It seems that everyone is doing Yoga! And many people come to Yoga to do a physical workout but discover that it is so much more to it than that and they grow to love their journey to becoming a Yogi. Yoga teaches us to have a greater appreciation of, awareness of and harmony with our natural world.

My class comprises flowing sequences of varying speeds that feel beautiful to do and challenge, strengthen, invigorate and, eventually, relax the body and mind. The content is mostly physical but we also learn Pranyama (breath control), Meditation, Relaxation and the basic Yoga teachings.
